Blackthorn Wood Pool Team

Cottingham & Middleton Community Choir Cottingham and Middleton Community Choir meets every Tuesday at the Methodist Church Hall from 7.30pm and 9pm. Subs are just a £1 a week, and anyone aged 16 and over is welcome to come and join in! Cottingham Crafters Monthly club meeting at the Village Hall Annex from 10am to 4pm on a Saturday.

The idea is for people into card making, scrapbooking and jewellery-making to work on their current projects with others, share ideas and make friends. Crafty Monkeys

A local craft club for pre-school children, launching on Tuesday 20 April 2010.

‘Crafty Monkeys’ is a non-profit making venture organised and run by two local mums to allow young children the freedom and opportunity to express their creative ideas in a fun and safe environment. There will be at least six different activities including one main focus for each week and the children will be able to take home everything they make.

The club meets every Tuesday during term time, from 1.45pm to 2.45pm at Drayton Village Hall. The cost is £18 for a 6-week term, payable in advance, to include a drink and cake for each child. All children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Garden Society Your local garden society meets at Great Easton Village Hall at 7.30 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. New members and visitors are always welcome. During the year the Society has a variety of interesting speakers and visits to some wonderful gardens. Heritage Group (Cottingham and MIddleton) The Cottingham and Middleton Heritage Group has been formed to help preserve the villages’ history and recent past for future generations. The Group is looking to talk to people with knowledge of village personalities, long-established village families, history of buildings (standing or gone), past businesses and professions, celebrations, events, groups and societies, Wartime involvement, farming, land ownership and management, transport, ghost stories, crime, humorous anecdotes….you name it!

The Group is also looking to gather photographs of bygone days, recent pictures that show significant changes in the villages, old maps, books, plans or documents of interest and any artefacts relevant to the history of the villages.

If you can help, know of anyone no longer living in the village who may have useful information or would like to join the Group, please contact Del on 771353, Dryden on 770950 or Jane on 770821.

Kick Fit Classes Currently taking place on Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings at 6.25pm in the Village Hall Annex. Each session costs just £3. Minerva Group
The Minerva ladies discussion group meets every other Tuesday from 7.45pm to talk about anything and everything, from ‘my favourite holiday’ to politics and current affairs. The ladies meet at each other’s houses. If you’d like to come along, call Pam Moore on 770022.

'New Cottingham' Football Club

New Cottingham FC plays in Division 1 of the Kettering Area Sunday League with home games currently taking place at West Glebe Park in Corby. Most of the team live in, or originate from, Cottingham and the lads are helping to revive a tradition of football in the village that stretches back at least 100 years. They are playing in the original Cottingham FC colours of yellow and green and are being generously sponsored by The Royal George. Over 60s Club
Meet every other Tuesday in the Village Hall Annex from 2 to 4pm to chat and play bingo and whist. If you’d like to come along, contact Audrey Ashworth on 771084.
Pilates Classes Madeleine Clarke currently runs Pilates courses in the Methodist Hall on Tuesdays (10-11am), and Wednesdays (2-3pm). She is also looking to start a new beginners' class on Tuesday mornings. The classes cost £5 per session and you’ll need to wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat, if you have one, and a couple of towels to support your head and back. Rockingham Forest Wheelers Rockingham Forest Wheelers cater for all ages and all kinds of cycling including touring, racing and mountain biking. The club meets for a run every Wednesday (7pm) and Sunday (10am) from their premises on Ashley Road, Middleton. If you’d like to know more, call Norman Needham on 771356.
Royal George Golf Society

Sunday Clubs There are two growing Sunday clubs at St Mary Magdalene for children aged under 11 and 11+ to learn about religion in a fun and involving way. New members are always welcome. Contact Ruth Colby on 770178.
Wesley Guild
The Wesley Guild meets every other Thursday from 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall. The meetings start up again on 14 October with a social featuring members’ favourite music. Contact Cyril Licquorish on 771401.
Whist Drives Whist drives take place on the first Saturday of every month from 7.30pm in the Village Hall Annex, costing just £1 per person. If you'd like to join in, please contact Pam Moore on 770022.
Writing Group

Have you ever fancied turning your hand to a bit of creative writing? Cottingham’s Rita Haas is looking for fellow aspiring writers who’d like to meet up, read out and discuss their own work at a regular group that will meet every other Tuesday between 10am and 12 noon. If you’ve got a story, an article or a poem just waiting to get onto paper, give Rita a call on 772338 and she’ll tell you more about it.

WRVS The Women’s Royal Voluntary Society is a charitable group that looks out for elderly and vulnerable people in the two villages. They send flowers and chocolates to villagers coming back from hospital, so if you know of any villagers who have spent one or more nights in hospital recently, contact Sue Jefferson on 771822.
Yoga classes

Free yoga classes are currently being held at the Village Hall Annex on Thursday mornings, funded by Corby Borough Council. All ages, abilities and new members are welcome. Just come along or, for more information, contact Sue Webster on 710603.

Youth Club Cottingham and Middleton Youth Club for children aged 7-12 meets every Wednesday in the School Hall from 6 to 8pm to  enjoy a range of activities, from arts and crafts and Nintendo Wii to table tennis and other sports, including Dodgeball. East Carlton Cricket Club
