News: February 2008

Various works have been undertaken on the Little Meadow site, all of which are within the terms of the Temporary Planning Permission that was granted by the Planning Inspectorate following the applicant’s appeal and have been overseen by Corby Borough Council’s Planning Department.

Cottingham Parish Council and its solicitors are continuing to gather information to form a case for having the appeal decision referred back to the Planning Inspectorate by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

News: June 2007

Cottingham Parish Council has engaged a solicitor to help fight the Government Planning Inspectorate’s decision to grant temporary planning permission for the installation of a mobile home at Little Meadow on Corby Road.  The action is being funded by donations from villagers totalling £17,500. We will keep you informed as the case progresses.

Parish Council Planning Meeting

Tue 17 July, 7pm, Village Hall Annex

Villagers are invited to attend the next Cottingham Parish Council Planning Meeting on Tuesday 17 July at the Village Hall Annex at 7pm. At the meeting, as well as discussing current planning applications, the Parish Council will be providing an update for villagers on the Parish Council's actions regarding the Little Meadow appeal.

Fighting Fund: 12 April 2007

Villagers from Cottingham, Middleton, East Carlton and the surrounding area are being asked to contribute to a special fund to meet the costs of potentially fighting the Planning Inspectorate’s recent appeal decision on ‘Little Meadow’ in the High Court.

At a meeting held on Tuesday 10 April at the Village Hall Annex, nearly 200 people gave their support for the proposal following an outline of the action and advice that the Parish Council had taken following the previous week’s meeting.

Representatives will be knocking on doors over the next few days to ask all Cottingham adults to sign a mandate form to authorise the Parish Council to pursue the case further.

Villagers have also formed themselves into an action group to help collect financial donations. See attached leaflet. If you would like to make a donation, cheques should be made payable to Cottingham Parish Council and handed to your nearest Cottingham Parish Councillor. You can also send cheques to Cottingham Parish Clerk Peter Taylor, 5 Headlands, Desborough, Northants NN14 2QA (01536 761752).

Alternatively, you can bring donations down to the Village Hall Annex between 7 and 8pm on Monday 16 April.

News: 1 April 2007

At a public meeting hosted by Cottingham Parish Council on Monday 26 March, villagers gave the Parish Council the go-ahead to seek professional advice on the possibility of challenging the Planning Inspectorate’s decision to grant planning permission at appeal for the installation of a mobile home at Little Meadow on Corby Road, Cottingham. This advice is currently being sought.

Several villagers have also written to local MP Phil Hope to express their concerns about the decision and Mr Hope has responded by writing to Corby Borough Council and Minister of State Yvette Cooper MP (a copy of this letter can be viewed here). Mr Hope is also writing to all Cottingham residents to tell them of the action he has taken.

News: 4 March 2007

The appeal against a refusal of planning permission for the installation of a mobile home at Little Meadow on Corby Road has been upheld by The Planning Inspectorate in a decision following a site visit on 13 February.

The Inspector has granted planning permission “…for a limited period being the period of five years from the date of this decision…” for the stationing of “no more than two caravans, as defined in the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 and the Caravan Sites Act 1968 (of which no more than one shall be a static caravan or mobile home)”.

The full Appeal Decision can be obtained from The Planning Inspectorate, 4/11 Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN, by phoning 0117 372 6372, or emailing enquiries@planning-inspectorate.gsi.gov.uk, quoting Appeal A: APP/U2805/C/06/2017666 and Appeal B: APP/U2805/A/06/2016152.

News: 19 October 2006

The Government’s Planning Inspectorate advise that they are still waiting for a site visit to be made to Little Meadow before deciding the appeals against the refusal of planning permission for a mobile home and the enforcement notice to return the land to pasture. Given this, no decision is likely for at least a couple of months.

News: 6 August 2006

Two appeals have been lodged with the Government’s Planning Inspectorate in respect of the land known as ‘Little Meadow’ at the top of Corby Road as follows:

Appeal reference APP/U2805/A/06/2016152/NWF (Case Officer, Mr D Packer)

Appeal against the refusal of planning permission for the installation of a mobile home (deadline for comments 17 July 2006).

Appeal reference APP/U2805/C/06/2017666 (Case Officer, Mrs Shelley Hicks)

Appeal against the enforcement notice to remove tarmac and reinstate the land to pasture (deadline for comments 9 August 2006).

For both appeals, Corby Borough Council has sent written representations to the Inspectorate along with copies of all letters of support or objection that they received about the planning application whilst considering it.

Copies of the appeal decisions can be obtained by writing to the case officers quoting the above references at the Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN.
