More than 200 villagers came along to the
Our Village, Our Future event on 29 and 30 January to find out
more about the Parish Plan for Cottingham and to share their thoughts
and aspirations for the future.

Church, Churchyard and War Memorial

The churchyard and
surrounding area should be kept tidied as surely it is one of the
most important focal features of the village

Churchyard should
be tidied and tombs preserved/highlighted

Old part of
churchyard very overgrown

Provide a litter
bin near seat in churchyard as this is where village youngsters
gather and throw their rubbish on the floor!

Bottom point of
church (near steps) needs more attentions – grass cut etc.

Church clock in
working order together with chiming bells on the hour as
originally/I agree – bring back the bells!

War Memorial and
Church are important features and should have the respect they
deserve

War Memorial needs
more care – not left to one or two people!

Part
of the reason I originally moved to the village some 13 years ago
was because of the village atmosphere and the church which was
floodlit at night really helped with that - can we not go back to
floodlighting the church? I am sure we could get some funding
together from the parish/residents.
